Opportunities for Civic Engagement

Encore Experiences has partnered with RSVP.  RSVP promotes volunteerism, particularly among persons 55 years of age and older, and provides opportunities for you to pursue your interests and use your abilities to help meet needs in Montgomery County.

Based on their goals and our strategic planning recommendations, Encore Experiences is the perfect location for RSVP’s new home.  The RSVP Field Coordinator is available on site Mondays and Thursdays.

For more information visit RSVP.

We are grateful for, and could not function as efficiently as we do, without our tireless Encore Experiences Volunteers.  Please consider joining one of the following volunteer teams.

Board of Directors

Our Board of Directors meets monthly to discuss and advise on the overall operation of Encore Experiences.  Board members are required to participate in at least one action oriented sub-committee.  Sub-committee opportunities include: Programming Oversight, Financial Management and Fundraising, and Personnel.

Greeter

Every day there is a person at the entrance desk to greet and welcome participants.  This role is critical to our success and helps set the tone for participant experiences.  Greeters help participants sign up for upcoming lunch dates and assist with registration of daily events in the MySeniorCenter sign in program.  Greeters generally work one day a month  from 8:45AM - 2:00PM.

Wait Staff

We have recently introduced lunch time cafe wait staff service.  This project has raised our lunch program to a new level.  You can sign up as many or as few times as fits your schedule.  Wait staff hours are 11:00AM - 1:00PM.

Facilities Management

On occasion, we need help with light maintenance and handyman type work.  This could include organizing storage room, changing light bulbs, light painting, and minor repairs.  If you have skills in any of these areas please let us know and we will call on you as needed.

Fundraising Committee

Approximately 37.5 % of our operating budget is provided by contract with Montgomery County Aging & Adult Services. Another 9.5% comes from North Penn United Way, and  4.5% of our budget will be provided by SEPA United Way.

Encore Experiences is responsible for raising the remaining 48.5% almost $175,000.00 from other funding sources. Traditionally these have included include grants, bequests, corporate donations, special events, building rentals, newsletter advertisements, and individual donations.

This committee helps organize fundraising plans, events and projects to help us meet this goal so that we can continue to provide more and better services to the community.

Newsletter and Mailing Preparation

The newsletter is mailed 6 times a year (every other month) and we send major mailings to our community in the spring for a membership drive and at the end of the year for donations.

Legal, Medicare, Financial and Notary Services

Attorney Mark Hoffman offers legal advice by appointment the third Thursday of each month.

Ed Savitsky guides participants through the Medicare maze by appointment on the second Tuesday of each month.

Michael Toth offers his services on an as needed basis to help with financial advice and planning.

Claire Shumaker offers notary services by appointment.  Call the Center to arrange an appointment.

Program/Event Leaders

Do you have a special talent you would like to share/teach?  Volunteers currently organize our bowling league, walking club, tap dance class and band.

Advocacy

There are a growing number of people who want to contribute in different ways, that they would feel are more meaningful to them, and perhaps even “change the world”. It is for this population that we will soon be adding the opportunity to learn about and advocate on issues that will impact our community at larger levels.   Watch this website or call us at 215-256-6900 for more information.
